The Premier Engineering Resource!
As the leading design resource for civil engineers, Engineering Design Innovations (EDI) was created by a diverse group of land development professionals to be a licensor of civil design software, and a general solutions and resources provider for civil engineering companies of all sizes. EDI provides management and support for the company’s principle design product, ASE Civil design software.

EDI Presents ASE Civil

ASE Civil provides engineering firms with specialized software tools developed to streamline grading/paving design and production workflow for subdivisions and commercial sites.

A model-based design and production system works inside AutoCAD to create, manage and distribute vertical design data. The latest design changes and the associated earthworks volumes may be shared with all team members for real-time, automated production drafting and fast, easy, accurate updating.

ASE Civil’s powerful tools allow designers and engineers to focus on meeting project budgets and schedules, maintaining design integrity and compliance with  regional standards while also minimizing or altogether eliminating the need for manual drafting or tedious calculation checking of detailed vertical design data. BENEFITS OF USING ASE CIVIL

  • Dynamic 3D road modeling which requires no setup
  • Dynamic earthworks* which includes road models and finished pads
  • Dynamic contouring* with automatic labeling
  • Fast, dynamic, detailed, multi-line road profiles with label branching
  • Interactive, dynamic vertical design constraints with drainage flow indicators
  • Reactive lot grading with dynamic pad & floor labeling
  • Automatic alignment creation
  • Increases production speed through automation of repetitive tasks
  • Eliminates errors by minimizing manual drafting and design calc’s
  • Streamlines software implementation with a simple user interface
  • Reduces the impact of vertical design changes
  • Standardizes output throughout a project
  • Minimizes personnel requirements and production team sizes
  • Minimizes overall project costs
  • Eliminates missed deadlines
  • Addresses regional design standards and submittal requirements

    Time and Savings Comparison

"… a great program. We could've never finished our project this quickly without this program. In just a couple of days, we were able to generate 30 sheets of paving profiles with a single CAD tech who had limited profile drafting experience. I'm definitely going to use ASE Civil on ALL of my future projects. " - Patrick, Engineer/CAD Designer

September 2008
New buttons for automatically setting alignment definition preferences for either "Residential" or "Commercial" sites was added to the preferences dialog.

ASE Civil has completed and passed compatibility testing with AutoCAD, LDD and Civil 3D version 2009.

June 2008
A new menu option uses a dialog to import entities of selected Base Map Control systems.

Profile vertical curve data labels are now automaticaly placed directly below the associated dimension text label.

Grip-edited or moved vertical curve and true-length dimensions text positions are now memorized.

Extended plan labels predefined style modifications are now maintanined indefinitely.

Grade label precision will now reference the value set in the preferences dialog.

All label types on all alignments containing labels will now be updated when selecting the “Update All Alignments in Drawing” menu option.

Unneccessary command line prompts during plan label updating have been reduced.

May 2008
New assemblies were added.

A new menu option was added to aid in setting a target point for 3-D navigation.

Random 3-D road model refresh failure was repaired.

The current layer is now unconitionally restored after data export cycles.

New alignments added using the "manual" option are now set current after successful definition.

Existing alignments will no longer be stationed after a new alignment is manually defined.

January 2008
Design Markers rotation has been updated to account for changes in the 2007 version of AutoCAD.

Extended plan label are now updated after surfaces are created or updated.

Surface management tools have been optimized for design data export cycles.

A new Plan Labels extension has been integrated. This new style-based system allows the user to create persistent, dynamic labels that conform to virtually any standard of appearance and may contain various combinations of ASE, LDD, Civil 3D or user data.

November 2007
Design Markers may now be selected by picking near a Marker instead of picking the Marker directly.

Flow Labels can now be configured to match generated profile grade label values exactly.

Profile label text edits may now be reverted to their original values.

Base Map Control tolerances command was added with project-based preference sharing.

Enhanced support for Pipeworks layers was added.

Profile Generator vertical scale factors now include “20”.

August 2007
New assemblies have been added to the 3-D road modeling library.

Base Map Control interpretation sensitivity is now user-adjustable.

Alignment and surface interface between ASE and Autodesk is now compatible with all versions of LDD or Civil 3D through 2008.

The user may now select any number of alignments for 3-D road model refreshing.

3-D road models now allow alignment-specific preference editing.

ASE now manages surface building and volume calculation for a total site surface definition.
